Employer contact at school reduces likelihood of young people becoming NEET

Earlier this month, Education and Employers reported on groundbreaking new research that showed just how important young people’s experience of the world of work is whilst they are still at school.

Based on a survey undertaken by YouGov, the study showed that 26.1% of young adults who could recall no contact with employers whilst at school went on to become NEET (not in education, employment or training). This dropped significantly to 4.3% for % for those who had taken part in four or more activities involving employers at school.

We’ve posted a video below by Dr Anthony Mann, Director of Research and Policy for the Education and Employers Taskforce discussing the report and its significance. This shows just how important it is for employers and schools to work together not just for the Talent 2030 goals, but for the opportunities and well-being of young people at school today and in the future.
